Be alert: Possible anon hate en masse

sunfalldown:

Hey guys. To anyone that is following me, I want to warn you.

Yesterday, a friend of mine got 99+ messages on their inbox. All of them were from anons, be it one or multiple, all of them were full of hate and horrible words. You know, anon hate, but en masse. And the reason behind the messages was that my friend ships a certain couple and reblogs stuff about that ship.

Today is not any better. Another friend of mine got a message about how a certain thing she liked was disgusting, and how the whole fandom was disgusting too. A friend of hers got a similar one too. And another friend of mine got a message telling them to go kill themselves.

This might be myself going to an extreme, but, either way, please be careful guys. There might be a group (or a person with a LOT of free time) that is spreading anon hate on different blogs without any real reason for that. There might be a group that is only spreading hate, and I want everyone to be, like, careful and warned about it.

If you DO get anon hate, you can try these things:

  • First thing first: DO NOT ANSWER THE MESSAGES. No matter how much you want to, or how good your comeback might be, DON’T ANSWER THE MESSAGES. That will only make the fire burn hotter.
  • What you can try, is to block the anonymous sender and delete the message. Act as if you didn’t receive it. As if it didn’t get through. No matter how many you receive, delete them.
  • If something reaches to you and harms you, DON’T RANT ABOUT IT PUBLICALLY. Go with a friend you trust. Talk about it. Seek for some reassurance, but privately. If you make a personal post, the anon WILL know that their messages are getting through, and it will get worse, probably. Talking to a friend, or a group of friends, is your best option.
  • And, at the end of the day, remember that you are a person. You are unique, and, because of that, important and loved. There is, out there, someone who cares about you, that truly loves you. You shouldn’t delete. You should keep enjoying the things you’re enjoying.

TL;DR: There might be a group of bad people that COULD send you messages telling you awful things. If it happens to you, don’t answer them. Just block them, go with a friend, enjoy a snack, and keep being you. I’m sending you a big hug and I hope you’re doing okay.
