Is it me, or does Tumblr seem to love transgender men until they start actually looking like men? (i.e. no longer pre-T or stuck in their feminine/androgynous phase)
They only like you if you look like everyone else on tumblr. Bonus points if you have dyed hair. It’s kind of the social justice warrior look I guess.
Yep. If you get to the point where you are indistinguishable from other men, they will dogpile on you and call you cis. Even though your entire goal in transitioning is to be a face in the crowd of dudes, and apparently Tumblr LOVES the Man Lite™ trans guy stereotype and will force you into it even if you don’t really fit.
Tumblr just has an obsession with gay guys who fit the aesthetic of the typical yaoi uke. If you look any manlier than that, you’re cis or not gay, according to them.
I personally, at this point in time, could pass as a 14 y/o gay boy, if I tried bc I have a baby face and my voice is starting to deepen. But that’s not what I am. That’s not what I want to be. I’m a 21 y/o man. Idgaf if it puts them off, makes them uncomfortable, or if I don’t “look trans/gay enough” for them. I don’t WANT to “look” trans. I want to “look” man. I don’t WANT to wear my status as trans on my shoulder like a sign. I want to be seen as just another guy, just like most trans guys. I don’t want my existence sexualized because of yaoi fangirls.
I am who I am, and that’s not gonna change bc some uke-wannabe yaoi fangirl calls me transphobic for liking the changes my body’s going through.
This is the realest shit. They don’t care once we start looking cis because they want their uke desu gay boy bullshit; and because being trans is their only identity, they have no other interesting characteristics. And they’re boring as fuck because of it.
Meanwhile, actual trans males are finally achieving the transgender goal of blending in and just looking like another cis dude in the crowd and finally living a comfortable life.
Reblog if you support trans men looking like another face in a crowd of men!
