Cats’ whiskers hitting the sides of the bowl makes them very uncomfortable because they are extra sensitive, so when they complain about food not being in the center of the bowl it could definitely related to them feeling discomfort! Use wide shallow bowls and it should be fixed, and your cat should reach all the food comfortably! 😀
