I went to Yukicon this weekend where Hato Moa and Damurushi held a Hatoful Boyfriend talk show and Q&A, and since the news of the upcoming new Hatoful Boyfriend game seem to have hit social media, here are all the notes I took about it:
– Hatoful Boyfriend: Mirror, the third Hatoful Boyfriend game, is supposed to come out in Japanese this summer 2018. An English version is also planned, but it will come out sometime later.
– Moa showed us the game’s logo and later tweeted a part of it:
– Moa is using the game engine Unity to create it. The game will be available for PC and Mac at least, but she’d also love to make a mobile version if she can figure out how.
– The game will take place in the alternate universe also seen in Hatoful Boyfriend: Holiday Star’s shrine visit short stories – the one where Nageki does not die and is living with Hitori Uzune, and the original Kazuaki is also alive.
– The focus of the story will be on the quails, if I understood correctly.

Also, I sent in a question for the Q&A about what size the birds are exactly, since this panel of the manga is… a thing…
Moa confirmed that yes, they birds are bigger than the ones in our world, but she hasn’t decided the exact size. But they are huge enough that Hiyoko can comfortably use the same furniture, chairs etc. as the birds, otherwise Hiyoko’s school life would be difficult. 😀 This makes the scene where Hiyoko throws Okosan and Sakuya out the window even more amazing…
