“Can you comment on some of the parallels that came in season 6, like how the meeting between Krolia and Keith’s dad and the finding of the blue lion by them, seems to parallel the beginning of the show with Lance going after Keith after an explosion and then the both of them being the only ones to actually step up to the blue lion and her barrier? And essentially how Blue brought Keith’s parents together and Team Voltron together?”
Jeremy Shada: Wow… that is uh, that is probably one of the more deep questions that I’ve heard… I like those though. Uh, thats great, uh i think the… I think there’s always parallels, I think especially I mean the writing team and our creators Joaquim and Lauren, I think they have a ton of that stuff. If you watch the whole series there are so many… Um, there’s so many parallels and some of them are like, like you said are like kind of, they’re long spanning too even from something like the first episode to being like in season 6 I think. Anytime you can have parallels I think, as a viewer, um, there’s just that kind of… Uh, unspoken kind of symbolism behind the scenes when it, when you know, there’s a parallel with an earlier scene too and it kind of has that emotional resonance and weight to it. Uh, and so i think thats really, its a rewarding thing too and you feel the journey that the characters have taken when you have those parallels that kind of recall you back to the earlier parts of the show. And so I think those are always intentional. I don’t think, usually I don’t think those are coincidental because especially, if you’re writing something and you write it and you have seasons that are airing when they’re you know, farther through the show, um, you’re kind of going back and going, ‘oh yeah! we did that!’ and then you know, sometimes you’re like thats a cool scene that works as a good parallel for what we’re doing now. And so i don’t think those are usually unintentional, I think those are usually pretty, um, pretty intentional when the team puts those in there. and they’re always cool, I think that type of stuff is what makes a show really great, um, and what makes it rewarding to watch it uh, you know, all the way through ‘cause you get to see the world that’s been built from that first episode even to season 6, so, yeah
Anyone got like a masterlist of all the amazing things Jeremy has said
jeremy “i don’t wanna spoil anything” shada:
“It’d be cool to have more moments between like…him and keith,…as they’re like..rivalry turns more into uh…you know the two of them just coming together […] more as a team. they’re definitely more rivals in a lot of places but sometimes you see him and keith kinda have to come together at times and when they actually do work together for a common goal they actually end up working well together they’re like…space ranger partners…which is–which will be cool.”
“But I think there is, to some extent, at some point you’ll find that
one person that above all you kind of fall in love with a little bit and
realize that it’s nice to have that one person than kind of just going
all over the place. Not spoiling too much, but yeah. He’ll mature in all
ways.”
“I think for Lance, I mean, he and Keith are like frenemies. So just more
of their bromance, you know. That’d be awesome. If any time we can put
the two of them together, they’re just funny because they, like, hate
each other but also really like each other as friends and teammates. So
I’m saying more of that, because that’d be cool.”
“I mean they’re pretty open on our show…because of the network […]. But I think they’re playing pretty slowburn with most of the relationship stuff, and so, as far as where we’re at, there’s not even been–I mean, they always put like little things that will probably pay off later, odds are, but nothing like, for sure at the moment.”
int: you know like.. lance thinks keith is cool jeremy: yah
“They’re teenagers for the most part… they get jealous, they get angry..”
