Im not saying that people should just stop watching and go hate on twilight but why are so many people on here suddenly acting like twilight had been good all along and that everyone hated twilight just bc of internalized misogyny and its huge teenage fanbase??Like yeah alot of people DID hate it bc of that but ALOT of people also disliked it mainly because of the glorification of abuse , grooming and toxic relationships in it and how it was all sold to teen girls as “True love”.
Did everyone forget that edward and bella’s relationship met ALL FIFTEEN criteria set up by the national domestic violence hotline of being in an abusive relationship???Or that bella allowed her SEVEN YEAR OLD DAUGHTER to be romantically with jacob who is the same age as bella just bc of “destiny”???
Did people forget how most of the “savage” and “wild” werewolves on were native american and all the vampires were white for no reason??Or literally ALL of the racist undertones??(check out our #twilight tag) Or how leah clearwater’s cousin is physically attacked by her ex boyfriend which left her scarred permanently yet they ended up together coz it was their “destiny” ???Or how bella literally left her family, education and single father to raise a family with edward for the sake of “true love”??
Are we just gonna ignore the glorification of stalking and controlling boyfriend behavior and the “not like other girls” form of internalized misogyny??
I could go on and on but please stop acting like twilight was anything but a crappy YA paranormal novel which got popular for some weird reason. The memes and jokes are funny and people headcanoning the characters as gay/lesbian/bi etc is good and all but please please remember why twilight was so much criticized by many many feminists too and stop introducing it to other teens bc the REAL twilight is a shitty and problematic mess which sells a very horrible image of “true love”
You can check out FHPOC’s twilight tag where other mods have discussed about this in detail.

Also meyer literally took the name of an actual indigenous tribe and just wrote over their history for her dumbass book
Let’s be real. If little girls’ knees, shoulders, and clavicles are a problem for male teachers, you don’t have a dress code issue. You have a pedophile issue.
I feel so bad for Millie Bobby Brown. She’s been sexualized since the minute she entered the industry and gained fame through “Stranger Things” (notice how her male cast mates are allowed to retain their youthful and goofy personalities, whereas she’s forced into wearing makeup and clothes that give off a “mature vibe”) and now she’s being groomed, in real time, by a 31 year old man (who also has an 18 year old girlfriend), and no one is doing or saying anything about it. This is why feminists always say that the sexualization of female celebrities begins young and why it’s connected to them facing sexual violence from men within the industry, and why those men later get away with it.
I am more and more convinced that children and teenagers just shouldn’t be in the industry, for their own protection. Especially young girls.
By the way, Beyoncé had been groomed by Jay Z since she was 15. So this happened to Beyoncé as well (and no one said anything about it), and it’s happening to Millie now, and probably to countless other teenage girls in the industry.
Natalie Portman, following Leon: The Professional
Glad someone brought up Natalie Portman up because after Leon, there was some seriously fucked up shit. People were sending rape fantasy letters, a radio station was counting down to her 18th birthday (aka she’s legal to bang and “not be weird”), and sexualized her body as she went through puberty. She talks about it here:
Donald Trump and Republican supporters of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh have engaged in victim blaming Kavanaugh’s accuser. They insist that if Kavanaugh really did something wrong, then his accuser would have immediately come forward to report the crime.
#WhyIDidntReport is a hashtag where survivors of rape, sexual assault and molestation are sharing their reasons why they didn’t report their assaults.
This happens far too much, and it is heartbreaking.
I’m glad the above post is a mix of men AND women.
We’ve been trying to talk about the blatant sexualization towards Millie Bobbie brown we’ve been trying to bring up that people will not stop treating a 12/13/14 year old girl as an adult we’ve been trying to talk about how she’s being put in far too adult clothing and now we have to watch the ramifications of people refusing to treat a child like a child and watch her be groomed by a grown man and people are defending it as tho any fucking 31 year old man should be texting a 14 year old girl at all hours talking about dating and saying I miss you and all the shit she didn’t even want to share in an interview
the Drake and Millie situation? why is this being allowed to happen. I know it happens all over the world but here – right in the public eye it’s happening and nobody is thinking anything of it??? Or are turning a blind fucking eye??
