by me, a fool who doesnt wanna die anymore

  1. never make a suicide joke again. yes this includes “i wanna die” as a figure of speech. swear off of it. actually make an effort to change how you think about things.
  2. find something to compliment someone for at least 4 times a day. notice the little things about the world that make you happy, and use that to make other people happy.
  3. talk to people. initiate conversation as often as you possibly can. keep your mind busy and you wont have to worry anymore
  4. picture the bad intrusive thoughts in youe head as an edgy 13 year old and tell them to go be emo somewhere else
  5. if someone makes you feel bad most of the time, stop talking to them. making yourself hang out with people who drain you is self harm. stop it.

… 8|

That’s some pretty good advice. I don’t know what’s left of my humor after ‘guess I’ll just die’ jokes but it’s worth a shot.

Personally i went from “guess I’ll die” jokes to “IF I HAVE TO BE HERE FOR 5 MORE MINUTES I PROMISE YOU I WILL BUY JUST, AN ARRAY OF CLOTHES.” and other wild hyperbolic stuff. Just replace the death part with something ridiculous and off topic. Its very entertaining

This also works with calling myself things like stupid, worthless, trash, etc. Even if you do this jokingly to yourself, your brain still believes it, and keeps up the cycle. Seriously, I found that when I stopped saying these things about myself, even jokingly, it made a massive difference.

Here’s a tip I picked up from a friend that’s helped me a lot — replace self deprecating jokes with ironically self aggrandizing jokes

Like every time I trip and fall, instead of saying “l’m just a disaster human” I say “I’m the epitome of grace and beauty”

Or like, when I draw a picture I’m not 100% happy with, instead of saying “my art is trash” I say something like “you know I think it’s time we replaced the Mona Lisa”

When you do that you get to make a joke, but you’re ALSO getting practice building yourself up, y’know?

And eventually it becomes a reflex and you get so used to it that you can say nice stuff about yourself even when you AREN’T joking

This is so important

REBLOG TO SAVE YOUR QUEER HEART FROM BREAKING

I’ve seen a bunch of people in the notes concerned (like I was) of comparisons of members of the lgbt to dogs: but upon visiting their website I was reassured that they monitor a variety of content, including (but not limited to):

THIS IS A GOOD SITE

Yeah, this site is literally so people can check for content they don’t want to see…or in some cases content that would make them physically or mentally ill. (I have strobe issues myself…)

It’s highly useful for a lot of people.

I had no idea they warned for strobe effects, that’s awesome! They give me headaches and nausea.

so it turns out one reason why kissanime’s been sucking ass lately in terms of load times is cause rapidvideo literally uses your browser to mine cryptocurrency???

And that’s just like, one of the hundreds/thousands of other sketchy things the site has going on in the background by just sitting on any of its web pages without an adblocker/scriptblocker

Yo, if you wanna use KissAnime, you gotta be able to protect yourself & your computer from its shadiness. This post is discouraging, but sadly, there aren’t any less shady alternatives (aside from the legal streaming sites, of course) Anyway, if you wanna use any streaming site, you should download these Chrome extensions:

uBlock Origin

And then you’re gonna wanna add this list to your uBlock filters…it blocks a lot of the nasty popups.

Kiss Essentials

Removes ads and adds functionality. Can never be too safe, right?

Pop Up Blocker

This extension is a lifesaver, seriously. Personally, I’ve never seen it used on Kiss, but it works a lot on other streaming sites. With uBlock, Essentials, and Pop Up Blocker, it’s very rare that I see ads.

Minerblocker

As the name suggests, it blocks crypto miners. I can’t vouch for its reliability yet, as it hasn’t blocked anything for me atm.

I also use a tampermonkey script to block the “Are You Human?” thing. Pretty sure it’s on the Kissanime reddit (also, if you use Kiss a lot, browse that sub even more!! It’s really useful to know what the hell is going on the site before you risk your computer). Make sure to download Malwarebytes, too!

reblogging this again because this is a much better version than just saying “dont use kissanime”

All illegal streaming services do stuff like this, so instead of going somewhere else, learn how to protect yourself from malicious advertisements.

I personally use 9cartoon but this is good info

windows users, save money using these free apps!!

other fab programs that are absolutely 100% free:

recuva – accidentally deleted something in the recycling bin? recover it back with this program!

speccy – tells you the specs of your computer, among other things

defraggler – defrag the SHIT out of your hard drive and clean it right up

This is a great post what makes it even better is that most of these you can get from Ninite which will download and install the latest versions of all available software ALL AT ONCE without you having to worry about adware or the annoying clutter (toolbars, changing your default search engine) that sometimes comes with their individual installers. So, yeah. Have at it folks.

For posterity.

Good lord this is awesome.

i don’t want to read lgbtq fiction i want to read genre fiction with lgbtq protags

alright friends i was thinking about this earlier and so i put together a list of some good genre fiction with lgbt main characters:

LESBIAN

  • the abyss surrounds us by emily skrutskie (sci fi/dystopian, woc protag)
  • ascension by jacqueline koyanagi (sci fi/space opera, disabled woc protag)
  • serenity rose by aaron alexovich (paranormal graphic novel)
  • everything leads to you by nina lacour (contemporary, but not “about” lgbt issues/coming out/anything like that)
  • afterworlds by scott westerfeld (contemporary/paranormal, woc protag)
  • beauty queens by libba bray (not sure on the genre; not sure how good this is, haven’t read it myself)
  • sword of the guardian by merry shannon (fantasy; warning for attempted rape scene)
  • huntress by malinda lo (fantasy, woc protag)
  • the dark wife by sarah diemer (fantasy)
  • seven by jennifer diemer (fantasy/fairy tale retelling)
  • bleeding earth by kaitlin ward (horror/fantasy; haven’t read this either, not sure how it is)

GAY

  • proxy by alex london (dystopian, moc protag)
  • more than this by patrick ness (dystopian i guess? not sure how to describe the genre tbh)
  • the star host by ft lukens (sci fi, haven’t read)
  • hero by perry moore (superhero)

BISEXUAL

  • god’s war by kameron hurley (post-apocalyptic/sci fi, bi woc protag)
  • coda by emma trevayne (dystopian, bi guy protag)
  • adaptation by malinda lo (sci fi, bi girl protag)
  • beauty queens by libba bray (see above, major bi characters)
  • ash by malinda lo (fantasy/fairy tale retelling, bi girl protag)
  • the young elites by marie lu (fantasy, lots of bi characters all around)
  • the scorpion rules by erin bow (dystopian, bi girl protag, haven’t read but i hear it’s awesome)

TRANS

that’s all i’ve got right now! i’m a lesbian so the lesbian section has the most books in it lol, but if anyone else wants to add some more books for gbt people (especially trans because Yikes that section is small), that would be awesome!

hello i volunteer as tribute

GAY

TRANS

that is all i have off the top of my goodreads list that u haven’t already listed

i only have one rec but it’s fucking massive and super worth it: the god eaters (read for free here, you can also buy it in paperback form in various spots online if you’re committed) is possibly the best standalone fantasy book i’ve read in ages and it’s super super gay (also super super triggery so hmu if you need warnings).

oh and as someone who has read the kastor chronicles i can definitely vouch for quality. that shit is choice. (both of these are by the same author btw lol)

ETA: NO. 6. NO. FUCKING 6. also fucking massive, also super triggery, also feel free to hit me up for details, but you can read the english translation FOR FREE here.

Some o’my all-time faves that are missing here:

– Santa Olivia by Jacqueline Carey (SF near-future dystopia with mutants, female protagonists)

– the Middle Kingdoms books by Diane Duane (epic fantasy but the books aren’t epic length, everyone is poly-ish [that’s not the queer bit that’s just a content note], starts off with two guys who are like totes in love & adds a few more until it culminates in a giant poly wedding, just roll with it, roll with it) (STILL NOT FINISHED but the lack of a fourth book isn’t too dire) (there is a genderqueer character in these but they are an alien, basically; I am not genderqueer so I don’t know if genderqueer people would enjoy this portrayal or not)

– the Elemental Logic books by Laurie Marks (fantasy, lesbians!!!)

Ethan of Athos by Lois McMaster Bujold (SF, a little dated now probably but I still find it charming, dude protagonists)
