Never talk to me or my 42 trees again

it amuses me to see people being surprised/impressed/amused by this setup, because it’s extremely common on the plains. if you don’t plant a windbreak, your heating and cooling bills are huge, and storms do things like throw the lawnmower through the living room window, take the roof off, or cake the entire north side of the house with six inches of solid ice.

evergreens remain bendy even in the coldest weather, so – wait, no, not the coldest. i remember when i was a kid it got down to like -45 and the norway pines around my house were cracking like gunshots as the sap froze.

maples, incidentally, make that noise around -20f, and i hear it at least once every winter here in southern minnesota. but i only ever heard norway pines make it that one time.

so anyway that’s why we plant pine trees around our houses. because otherwise the wind would freaking kill us.

This is informative and perfectly sensible under the circumstances but I also cannot resist the temptation to compare it to planting stuff all around the boundary of your lot in The Sims

I can’t stop crying. I’m so fucking upset and angry and hurt and confused and I just don’t understand.

Fuck this country.

I just want to be with my fucking girlfriend

And they won’t let her in. They are sending her back. We can’t even see each other. FUCK this

This fucking hurts

I love you Fel

I’m so heartbroken.

I’m about to board my fourth flight in 48 hours. It’s 5:36 in the morning and I’m waiting another 5 hours to board back to Argentina. I haven’t slept a wink and I’m so frustrated, angry, so sad. They kept me in isolation the whole day and made me sleep in some bunk bed. They weren’t “comfortable” with me visiting after “reviewing my case” and confiscating my phone the entire time and not allowing me to contact more than one person for 3 minutes.

They revoked my visa. I can’t visit the states again unless I fight REALLY hard for my case, and I don’t even know how long that will take or if they will change their decision.

I’m gonna be using all the money I brought to buy Casey a plane ticket to come see me. It’s a lot of money. (No, Sapphic funds will NOT be touched). We just threw 1000 dollars in the trash can from this whole mess.

If you want to help me out, please consider commissioning me (my art tag is tagged/my-art, or if you feel like it, donating to the gofundme.com/ldrlesbos or to my paypal, paypal.me/felitomkinson

thank you so much

i wonder if my pets have like a proper language and when i try to speak back to them im just speaking jargon

like for example my cat always speaks to me when I come home and i meow back to her and she’ll meow again & even though i don’t think twice about it to her it’s probably a situation where it’s like

her, meowing: “im glad you’re home”

me, meowing back: “tax benefits”

her, meowing: “why do u always do this”

me

cats actually have a human-specific language. cats don’t often meow at each other and seem to use subvocal communications that humans can’t hear to chat cat-to-cat. however, cats seem to use what humans would call “shout-until-you’re-understood” to speak to humans. so basically, it’s more like:

“I’M GLAD YOU’RE HOME!”

“tax benefits”

“NO, I’M GLAD YOU ARE HOME”

“waffle iron”

“IT’S OKAY. I LOVE YOU TOO, MY DUMB HUMAN”

The domestic house cat’s wild ancestors have a much harsher voice, too. The going theory is that early cats mimicked human infants which tripped humans’ nurturing instincts, and then selective breeding did the rest.

We make a big deal over how dogs have developed the ability to understand human expressions and tones (and let’s be fair, that is in fact awesome), but cats are possibly the only species that has changed their vocal language to try to communicate with us.

what I love about this post (apart from cats because cats are ADORABLE) is the assumption that cats have words for tax benefits.

Can everyone please start proactively telling their white girl friends not to do dia de los muertos facepaint for halloween, especially white folks telling other white folks. I know it’s early september but you can never start to early on curtailing this bullshit.

this is to honor the dead that we still love and still remember, not a fashion statement of your choice. And Dia De Los Muertos is not just on Halloween FYI

I have long said that in order for any comedy to truly succeed as a story, there has to be meat beneath the jokes. There has to be that moment when it is not funny any more.

This. This is that moment.

#honestly even though this is one of the best scripts there ever has been  #that is the greatest line  #it’s /groundbreaking/ in terms of how it frames vengeance quests; temptation beats; inigo as a comedic figure throughout the movie  #you know because this is a happy book (film) that inigo will get his revenge  #but will he get JUSTICE  #will he get ABSOLUTION  #will he get CATHARSIS  #those are the things we don’t know  #and that line sells it more than any of the previous scene (x)

well now I’m crying

I’M NOT CRYING YOU’RE CRYING

Best movie ever!

Also might be crying. @violetoccurrences!
